I think it's going to be a rare moment that I'll type out a long "real" entry, haha. Too busy! (which is actually a horrible excuse)

Some moar things:

(1) It's raining now -- I really love the rain. The sound of it on my skylight especially.

(2) I'm really excited for Spain (less then a month!). I'm also already preparing for my first Spanish lit. course in the fall because ahh we're going to have to read a novel. I've already started it and have encountered over a hundred words I don't know, hah.

(3) My friend Janna (who lives across from me, basically with me) and I are going to have a party between our two apartments (We're the only two apartments on the third floor of this house). We're not really party animals and we've never tried this before, but I think it'll be fun.

Some things:

1) Did some laundry in my bathtub this week because I was completely out of clean clothes and my pants (I have two pair that I wear regularly) were starting to really reek.

2) Had a grand weekend. Art show on Friday that was basically like a huge reunion and was wonderful. Friend came to visit, saw some hip-hop/stomp dancing.

3) Today is homework and homework and homework. Also, got rid of recycling. The light is gray and soft.

Gotta hunker down and get this semester done and over with. Goodness.

I've been studying fairly hard for this linguistics quiz I have today. So much so that I have all this phonetics stuff oozing out of my braaain. Did you know our tongues have thirty-three muscles?

It's also raining right now.

Last night my friend and I wasted the night away walking around taking polaroids -- here's one of them. This is a (the) performance hall at my school that's usually only open when there are performances going on, but we were lucky and it was open last night! It's such a relaxing place. We also ended up so exhausting ourselves out from all the walking that we came back to my place and fell right to sleep.

I loved today.

I have an Agricultural Science test tomorrow; we'll see how it goes. I think this weekend is going to be filled with studying and homework (oh joooy), but I really have to get some shit done! And I have a linguistics test on Tuesday to study for starting tomorrow because it seems like it's going to be AHHBIGSCARY. Being focused this time of year is so hard because life is erupting everywhere and days are warmer and this sort of fervor takes hold and oh geez I just looked at the weather and this weekend is going to be gorgeous so I had really better go and get some of that shit done.

I wish every Thursday could be like it was today! Yes yes yes!

film and weekend

So, I've done taken my first roll of film in awhile, and I feel good about the results. I like being able to hold them and see them. I've posted some on my flickr. Here's one:

School has been getting rather busy, but I've been productive this weekend so I feel prepared for the coming week. I just have to make it to Thursday and I'll be all good. Two tests -- one tuesday, one wednesday, a paper due tomorrow and a spanish composition due wednesday. Paper and composition complete. All homework (thus far) complete. I'm going to spend the rest of this evening studying, showering, shaving and eating.

Weekend was really good -- was social on Friday and went to a party. It was a lot of fun seeing people and meeting people and dancing (I haven't danced in so long). Went swimming on Saturday, which was really great. I love how relaxing and exhausting swimming can be -- I also like the tiny bubbles one makes as they thrash (or glide, if you're more graceful -- not me, ha!) through the water. Saturday night went out to eat for ze maaan's birthday, which was really great. Good food, good company. Mmm. So yeah, this weekend gets an A!

I'm trying to take photos with a film camera and see how that goes. I like the fact that I'll have to wait to see the results and not be instantly gratified as I would be with a digital camera. It's sunny outside and cold and I'm so excited.

Holla'.

From March 18, 2008.

Yesterday it was really rainy. I was sitting in one of the academic buildings (VH) waiting for my class to open up. It was interesting to watch as people passed from inside to outside how they unfurled their umbrellas -- some with a flourish, some stiffly, some extended the telescope early, eager to snap the cloth into place, while others waited until the last moment -- as the doors swung shut and they were out -- to snap up their erect, blooming canopy. The sounds of all these snappings and shakings, and all the colors, were just breathtaking. I can still hear the sounds. I love the umbrella -- I love how sheltered it makes you feel as you head out into the drizzle, the downpour. I always think about those photos of people in cities with their umbrellas buttressing against one another. How beautiful that is, and how safe.

I'm completely out of clean underwear.

First, I'm really addicted to stumbleupon right now. Maaan. I've seen so many neat things, and I've learned so much in these past days.

Second, these last two weeks of school are ahhh no good and are slowly eating away at my soul. I've started walking to school though instead of biking, and that's been really nice for me. I just have to keep chugga-chuggin' along.

Third, over Thanksgiving break I took my dirty clothes home, which basically consists of all my clothes. This includes a huge majority of my underwear. I think washed everything, and stuck everything but my underwear in front of my dresser at home. I made the horrible mistake of being too organized and put my underwear in my dresser. Then, upon my trip back to school, I completely forgot to take my underwear back with me and am now completely out of clean underwear (having worn the few articles I had here in my apartment). My mom has hopefully sent some to get me through these two weeks. Otherwise, commando will be my choice of under-garment for the interim.

Fourth, thanks for reading this. I want to talk more about my upcoming trip to Spain sometime soon. Woo!
